Historic as it may be its a courthouse and just how many good things happen here? Jail time...divorces...probate issues....searches at doorways. This is not tourist destination.

Jury duty process is horrible. They explain nothing that is going on at all. Stood in the hot hallway for a good amount of time before I was taken into the courtroom. Went through all of the questioning, was told to sit in the room then all of us were told to report back on a certain day and expect to be there two weeks for the trial. Got a call the night before the trial that I was excused. It wouldn't have been a big deal but my employer had already removed me from the schedule and changed other peoples' schedule around. Had to go back and change it all again at the last minute. It would have been better if they had not told me to prepare for two weeks then the night before said not to come. Nothing was explained at any point. There were 20 or so people in the courtroom. We were not permitted to leave the room even to use the restroom. We were only given a 10 minute break for 20 of us to use ONE restroom!! Needless to say not everyone got to relieve themselves. I had previously been to jury duty in Michigan and the process there was much more planned out and explained. We all went into a room and watched a show about the process and what to expect.

It's a beautiful and old building with clean surroundings. It's very relaxing if you spend an hour or two just walk around it. Since the next door is police station, it feels very safe in this area.

I have to go there to renew my notary every 4 years and it's always an unpleasant experience. Customer service, in regard to just common courtesy, isn't the best, from the time you walk in the door with security, until you leave. On the upside they are efficient, once they acknowledge you.
