About visiting the probate court

About visiting the Boone County Courthouse

The term probate court is a common term loosely referring to the probate division located within a state or county courthouse. In the state of Missouri, the Circuit Court is the level of court responsible for overseeing matters related to probate court.

Boone County Courthouse is listed as a registered probate court within Boone County, Missouri.

In most instances within Missouri, there is at least one Circuit Court courthouse location within each county. Sometimes a county may have multiple courthouses and may also have multiple probate court locations. Such is often the case in larger metropolis counties where population is dense or also in spread-out, rural counties, which may use a courthouse annex or satellite office system to accommodate nearby citizens with easier access in proximity or distance.

About visiting the probate court

Who to speak with when visiting the Boone County probate court

Upon visiting the Boone County Courthouse, look for signs or directions to the probate division within the main courthouse. Once you’ve located the probate division, make your way to any reception desks and ask to speak with a probate clerk or probate judge. The probate clerk at Boone County Courthouse may or may not require appointments based upon the busyness of the probate court, so it’s a great idea to call ahead.

Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

I had court scheduled for a certain time on a certain day. My family was so excited and were on pins and needles waiting for our court day to finally arrive. It finally came and we even arrived early. We sat in the courtroom and listened to other peoples court cases and our turn never came. We found out, after a hour of sitting and waiting, that our court was canceled. Nobody from the courthouse contacted us to inform us that they canceled our court even though they had my information on 7 different packets. We recieved no email, phone call, or letter to let us know. We took time off of work, time from our day, and prepared for this day just to have it pulled from under our feet. If there was a different courthouse I could go to for what I need to get done I would definitely take my business there. Now we get the pleasure of doing this all over again next month. Hopefully the clerks do not mess up yet again and hopefully we can actually be seen.

The courthouse and the employees are unethical and condone unethical actions. I filed an internal complaint against their criminal investigator Jason Jones, for having an on-going affair with my wife, who was also a legal assistant and his co-worker. They did nothing about it, despite 75 pages of documented proof of text messages and a confession. Most of which transpired while he was working! So, this is the typical agency that covers up unethical actions of problem employees and only opens themselves up to potential law suits from their wrongdoings. I am a criminal justice professor and a Ph.D. and agencies like this give law enforcement organizations a bad name! If you want to engage in extra marital affairs maybe this is the place to work!! You can do it on duty! Nice job Boone County!

Nice enough place. I would have given them 5 stars but they removed the monument for the soldiers we lost at Dessert Storm.
