About visiting the probate court

About visiting the Broomfield Combined Court

The term probate court is a common term loosely referring to the probate division located within a state or county courthouse. In the state of Colorado, the District Court is the level of court responsible for overseeing matters related to probate court.

Broomfield Combined Court is listed as a registered probate court within Broomfield County, Colorado.

In most instances within Colorado, there is at least one District Court courthouse location within each county. Sometimes a county may have multiple courthouses and may also have multiple probate court locations. Such is often the case in larger metropolis counties where population is dense or also in spread-out, rural counties, which may use a courthouse annex or satellite office system to accommodate nearby citizens with easier access in proximity or distance.

About visiting the probate court

Who to speak with when visiting the Broomfield County probate court

Upon visiting the Broomfield Combined Court, look for signs or directions to the probate division within the main courthouse. Once you’ve located the probate division, make your way to any reception desks and ask to speak with a probate clerk or probate judge. The probate clerk at Broomfield Combined Court may or may not require appointments based upon the busyness of the probate court, so it’s a great idea to call ahead.

Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

Courts are for the people but not in this county. Only have free time during your lunch break. Don’t come here as they close the whole building down. I’m going to get with a local rights advocate group and see if we can’t get this changed for the betterment of the community.

What kind of amateur organization doesn't allow you to pay a speeding ticket online or over the phone. It's 2020... I am 6 hours south of Broomfield help me out here. This is definitely a scheme how to drive up additional fees.

No longer the system I and many others once championed. Has become lazy and a far cry from its roots. No persuite of truth or no motivation anyway. Public defender lied and did very little of what he said he did. Didn't ahow up on my sentancing date... instead sent a replacement id never met and didn't know my story

Prosecutor was completely unprofessional, barely showing up on time and talking down to nearly everyone I encountered on the docket that day. When it was my turn to go over my case with her she was extremely snooty, though it was just a routine car accident case and even gave me a lecture fit for my mother. I guess she didn’t realize that I’m a fully grown adult who was already there to pay their consequences?? I’m appalled she thinks she gets to act in this disrespectful manner. I hope she goes to therapy for her superiority complex because soon, her head won’t fit through the door of her office. Judge was very fair in my case and others I witnessed on the docket and, and court clerks were very professional and helpful. Court was clean, and receptionists were somewhat knowledgeable during calls but it’s understandable they don’t know everything as they aren’t involved in cases.

We were the defendants in a small claims case. The Magistrate informed everyone, ahead of time, that both sides would get 15 minutes to talk. The plaintiff gave their evidence for 20 and we showed our evidence for 22. The Magistrate taking time to read the evidence is included in your time to talk. We had also filed a counterclaim. After we finished our defense, we started on our counterclaim and were informed that our counterclaim should have been discussed in our turn to talk. VERY unfair! Fifteen minutes (or the 20 and 22 in our case) isn't enough time to present all of ones evidence...at least in our case. But we should have been told that in our time we had to squeeze in our defense AND our counterclaim. When the Magistrate gave her ruling she denied 100% of our counterclaim because we hadn't provided any evidence. 100% of our evidence was sitting on the table directly in front of us and we were never allotted time to present. The case was wash (no winner/no loser) but we had receipts for our counterclaim and feel that this was very unfair.
