Who to speak with when visiting the Centre County probate court
Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.
Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

Reviews of the Centre County Courthouse
A beautiful centerpiece in the quaint, historic town of Bellefonte, Pa!
Courthouse looks good from the outside, cannot judge the politics or level of corruption inside the courthouse.
Centre County has the most corrupt courts in the Commonwealth. You have judges having ex parte communications, refusing to follow the law and countless citations from case law in their rulings. There are all types of wheeling and dealings based upon cronyism and nepotism which is norm and never the exception. Corruption is the hallmark of this court. As a veteran of 10+ years service, this court has utter disregard for the Soldiers & Sailors Civil Relief Act. The people in the Prothonotary's Office are not much better. I had a person there tell me to file all my petitions for contempt and have a person served by proxy which resulted in me being charged with contempt. When asked about it they (Prothonotary's Office) retired the person who said this. Worse yet, an order gets signed and it is weeks later until you receive it in the mail leading you to have to file nunc pro tunc all the time. This is NOT just some rant from a disgruntled litigant. I'm happy to go on the record in front of any judge regarding these matters anytime and have proof from the record of everything I've stated here. My best advice is find a quality attorney from outside this County who knows the law and is not afraid to be blackballed, bullied or be browbeaten by any judge and is willing to put it all on the record and get to a not much better appellate court where at least they may actually read and follow case law. Problem with appellate courts is they give the jokers (common pleas court) way too much credit and forget they mostly are failed attorneys who spent money to buy their way to get on the dole to a position of immunity from liability and responsibility for making incompetent rulings. Lastly, this County is in the stone ages when it comes to technology with ANYTHING! NO electronic filings or being able to read or search. Instead they want to juice anyone who wants to read a filing on their antiquated system. It is too easy for electronic filings and scanning of documents today yet these jokers in the Prothonotary's office prefer to live in the stone age pushing paper and wasting the taxpayer's money. Judicial reform can't come fast enough in this country!
Poor auto answering phone system. There is no information about hours of operation around CHRISTMAS time. Spent $50.00 to go to courthouse in Bellefonte and come back to State College.
