About visiting the probate court

About visiting the Hocking Municipal Court

The term probate court is a common term loosely referring to the probate division located within a state or county courthouse. In the state of Ohio, the Common Pleas Court is the level of court responsible for overseeing matters related to probate court.

Hocking Municipal Court is listed as a registered probate court within Hocking County, Ohio.

In most instances within Ohio, there is at least one Common Pleas Court courthouse location within each county. Sometimes a county may have multiple courthouses and may also have multiple probate court locations. Such is often the case in larger metropolis counties where population is dense or also in spread-out, rural counties, which may use a courthouse annex or satellite office system to accommodate nearby citizens with easier access in proximity or distance.

About visiting the probate court

Who to speak with when visiting the Hocking County probate court

Upon visiting the Hocking Municipal Court, look for signs or directions to the probate division within the main courthouse. Once you’ve located the probate division, make your way to any reception desks and ask to speak with a probate clerk or probate judge. The probate clerk at Hocking Municipal Court may or may not require appointments based upon the busyness of the probate court, so it’s a great idea to call ahead.

Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

I have been calling every hour on the hour for 4 days now and have yet to get anyone on the phone. The system automatically hangs up on you after 60 seconds. Unfortunately, the courthouse itself is closed as well, so getting in touch with anyone is impossible. Would love an alternate way to get in touch, as I just have a simple, but very time-sensitive question. Edited to add: I got ahold of them at 10am the morning after I posted this review, and they resolved my issue immediately and professionally, so I’ve added a couple stars!

First visit (arraingment), people were friendly and reasonable including the judge who seemed fair and even explained things. Second visit (pre trial) i encountered the large and " in charge" aspiring assistant prosecutor Miss Meadows who didn't have time for my 11am arraignment that I drove 4 hours to attend. She pretended to listen to my counter points and then wrapped everything up with no deals by mocking me stating..." and Im the one who studied law!" So funny! I bet she also wants to be a comedian. Another thing i found preplexing ....asking for the whereabouts of a form to these people is considered legal advise. The assistant prosecutor in particular is the perfect example of the kind of person who should not have the power to medal in other people's lives. She does not care about anything but progressing her career and "winning" . If you are meeting with the peach, Miss Meadows, you're only chance of justice is to pass a couple twinkies under the table. She might be willing to see you side of things then.

This place is a joke. Dont care if people actually get clean. Only care about the money. My boyfriend is in the vivatral program and he has a very bad probation officer that gives him wrong information about when his appointments are. The judge sucks. Has let people that have failed for meth go on a warning, but locked my boyfriend up for failing for alcohol. Which he is 22 years old. I know this because I have been in court with him and watched these things go down. The receptionists are VERY rude. You guys deserve no stars.
