About visiting the probate court

About visiting the Dade County Court

The term probate court is a common term loosely referring to the probate division located within a state or county courthouse. In the state of Florida, the Circuit Court is the level of court responsible for overseeing matters related to probate court.

Dade County Court is listed as a registered probate court within Miami-Dade County, Florida.

In most instances within Florida, there is at least one Circuit Court courthouse location within each county. Sometimes a county may have multiple courthouses and may also have multiple probate court locations. Such is often the case in larger metropolis counties where population is dense or also in spread-out, rural counties, which may use a courthouse annex or satellite office system to accommodate nearby citizens with easier access in proximity or distance.

About visiting the probate court

Who to speak with when visiting the Miami-Dade County probate court

Upon visiting the Dade County Court, look for signs or directions to the probate division within the main courthouse. Once you’ve located the probate division, make your way to any reception desks and ask to speak with a probate clerk or probate judge. The probate clerk at Dade County Court may or may not require appointments based upon the busyness of the probate court, so it’s a great idea to call ahead.

Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

DO NOT GO DURING LUNCH HOURS! I had to go 3 times in order to resolve my parking ticket problem. The first time, it was very fast and the person was very helpful on what I had to bring in order to make my request. The second time, they took too long so I left because I had to return to work. The last time I had to stay no matter what because it was about to be a month since my ticket. When I got there, I only had 2 people in front of me. BUT, since it was 11:55 they all left for lunch and only one (very slow) person was left working. It took him 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to me because he decided to call everyone from traffic first, disregarding the time of arrival of everyone else. He even let someone behind me skip because he had some "paper with a seal". He took very long with each person and in between persons as well. He didn't seem to care that in an 1 hour time spam we went from 3 people to 20 in the waiting room. Nobody else there seemed to care either, since it wasn't their department they didn't care about helping anybody else. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because, the first time they were actually helpful and efficient. I think that during lunch time they should either put an efficient person there, or leave 2 people working, because one slow person just won't do. If you go on a Monday or during lunchtime be ready to be late for work or school.

I had to pay a ticket of not having proof of registration. I waited too long that I couldn't pay online and my license got suspended I had to validate it too. So, I fixed it all there!!! The lines weren't crazy!!!! I went on a Friday morning 9:30 is and was out before 10 with everything straightened out. They suggested for me to go to court to get it all dismissed without paying. Hope this helped !!!

I swear I believed I called everyday for about two hours for two weeks trying to resolve a D6 clearance (do not live in the state), and I only twice was put on hold. Was told I only had one caller ahead of me, then was told that I called too late because they closed (this was 1045, and the offices calling center closes at noon) very dissatisfied, do not care if the budget is low, never had this problem in New York.
