About visiting the probate court

Who to speak with when visiting the Ohio County probate court

Upon visiting the Ohio County Magistrate Court, look for signs or directions to the probate division within the main courthouse. Once you’ve located the probate division, make your way to any reception desks and ask to speak with a probate clerk or probate judge. The probate clerk at Ohio County Magistrate Court may or may not require appointments based upon the busyness of the probate court, so it’s a great idea to call ahead.

Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Many courthouses do not allow cell phones, so keep that in mind as your phone may need to be turned off upon entering the courthouse, or even left outside.

Driving through from PA back to Ohio following traffic flow not knowing I actually was 13 miles over the 55 limit when I was anxiously looking for an exit to use the Men's room after I took the water pill for my diabetes condition. Called the court and told the lady to plead no contest. She made me holding for like 5 minutes, and said it is $180.25 penalty finally. I asked why no contest on the citation choice to plead and no explanation was needed to give. She said no contest is as guilty. I guess the Ohio County just want your money. Drive carefully through that county, and of course all. I guess Ohio County is a poor county needing the money, just like the poor city of Lockland in Hamilton County generating a lot of money through ticket writings a few years ago. I'll drive more carefully.

So I went into Magistrate courthouse today. I was greeted at the door by a deputy of the Ohio County Sheriff's dept. Well, the issue I had concerns the Sheriff's dept so I sat down & started to explain the situation. The deputy seemed eager to help me but we were interrupted by a morbidly obese woman who came from the back. We must have interrupted one of her many snack breaks because she had a large amount of BBQ sauce dripping from her lips. She was very loud & started explaining the purpose of the Sheriff's dept. As if I dont know they are paid by me to protect me. I dont know if she is an elected official or a Magistrate's secretary but she should be fired.
