Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Reviews of the Winnebago County Circuit Court
Great courthouse. There is 2 hour free parking within a few blocks from the courthouse. The staff is friendly, the law library had a lot of books. There are a lot of County buildings within the same few blocks which is easy to navigate. Would appear again.
My girlfriend called to get a problem figured out and the lady at the county circuit clerk helping her laughed at her the whole time and never helped resolve any problems. Absolutely awful service.
Finding parking were it doesn't cost you a hours wages is impossible. This is Rockford, not downtown Chicago. That said, found the employees friendly. Keep in mind they deal will people that have NEVER done anything wrong, and everyone else is an idiot. I asked direct questions and received direct answers. Did have one "not happy" individual on the phone but who doesn't have a bad day. Traffic court was good, judge was more than fair.
Well, we weren't here for a fun visit, but the place is small enough that you can get to where you're going fast, and park in a nearby spot. This is MUCH more convenient than having to go to a similar location in Chicago. There's a short security scan when you go in, and although the place looks old and not very clean, it gets the job done. Best of luck to you if you're visiting.
i called to inquire on possibly changing a court date. my husband was pulled over a couple of days prior to me calling to inquire -we are planning to move out of state prior to the court date given and i wanted to know if that would be possible to change a date. we understand the guilt and i was not rude, a bit confused. i was not trying to avoid anything just trying to work around a situation in place. i was informed we need to wait to give the officer 10 to submit the tickets--understandable--we normally do not have violations and i had questions....long story short the lady who was assisting me did not completely hang up before stating "JESUS-some people" ---i found this very inappropriate, unprofessional and insulting since i was only asking questions and confirming the information she provided...was i bothering her doing her work/job? at least from a professional stand point be sure the call in disconnected before complaining...so rude...feeling a bit angry and disappointed in the system.
