Reviews of the Orangeburg County Courthouse
I called and left a message with one of the numbers provided on the website because I didn't know which department I needed. My call was returned within a matter of minutes and the pleasant lady transferred my call to the correct department. The young lady who answered was very thorough, informing me of what I needed to bring when visiting her office. When I visited the next day, I knew exactly where to go and what I needed. Demetrice Williams was professional and friendly, shaking my hand when I complimented the ease of my experience; I was out in 5 minutes!
All courthouse staff, especially the security guards and Register of Deeds Office, were friendly and helpful.
Terrible service and Judges docket takes forever to move forward. However the deputy’s are Respectful.
Called to see where to go for conditional discharge drug testing. Not only did the lady who answered the phone for the criminal division tell me I called the wrong place, she told me they had nothing to do with PTI (I specifically said conditional discharge) and gave me a number that didn't even connect to an office of any kind.
I usually don’t like leaving negative reviews but this is a must! I’ve sat in a few cases with a family member who has been to court at least 3 times within the past 2 years to support them. Every case was lead by Judge Donna Lynah. However this complaint is not about my family member. My complaint is her unprofessionalism, lack of thoroughness, unfairness, negative attitude, and seemingly lack of education when it comes to the law. I sat in disgust to see how she handles cases among other individuals and it’s a disgrace!!! She needs to be investigated ASAP! She talked down to many individuals as if they are worthless and she fails to listen. I cannot understand how she has continued to practice so long. I myself who have worked in law for many years see that she does not go by the actual law in how she handles her cases. I don’t know if she needs more training or if she’s just a negative person who just doesn’t care about doing things the proper way. A change is desperately needed. I pray the proper authorities sit in (secretly) and investigate her and I’m sure they’d find what I’m saying holds truth.
