Plan ahead to be early in case available parking is limited and be prepared for formal security measures upon entering the building, as courthouses are official state and federal property. This generally includes passing through metal detectors and allowing search of any belongings.

Reviews of the Boone County Circuit Court

I tried calling today simply to ask a question regarding identity and drivers permit for my foreign relative who is here to study at UC. I heard, in the recorded greeting, that they were closing at noon for Good Friday. I attempted to reach someone 4 times, each time waiting while the phone rang for 5+ minutes and then disconnected. I spoke with someone briefly, twice. First, I was told to call another number, which gave me the identical options, and second, when I was quickly asked to, “Hold please”, followed by holding for many minutes and a reconnect to the greeting options, with 5+ minutes of more ringing and another disconnect. I don’t know if I’m more outraged by the thirty wasted minutes or the fact that their hours are shortened for Good Friday. They’re already on reduced hours, because of COVID-19, when many Americans are unemployed. I’m sure they’re not affected financially by COVID. I would appreciate their handling their positions more responsibly.

Hung up on me four times. I wasnt being rude or loud or impatient. I was simply asking how to schedule a permit test since their covid rules. Phone system also sent me to three extensions not selected; i didnt even get to schedule.

This courthouse looks really utilitarian. Maybe I prefer architectural courthouses. I saw six people with neck tattoos, so that was pretty interesting.

I got a new driver's license to reflect that I was over 21. After driving around with this license for several months, I found out they had given me an ID with no security holograms on it, making it indistinguishable from a fake. When I asked about it, I was told to get a new one, and was not given any explanation on how this mistake was made. In the end I had to drive an hour and a half back to this courthouse for a new license. To top it all off, I got parked into my parking space while at the courthouse, and had to wait 40 minutes before I was allowed to leave, making me late to an academic advising appointment. At least the line was short.
